Donald S Ball
FEBRUARY 17, 1942 – NOVEMBER 12, 2020
Donald Ball, 78, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on November 12, 2020. He was born in Miami, Florida to Hebert and Anne Ball, making him a 4th generation Floridian. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Don graduated from Florida State University, where he met his wife of 49 years, Janey Cubbon and earned a bachelors degree in education. Don and Janey went on to have 3 children, Laurie, Dan, and Chris. Don was a lifetime member of the NRA, an avid gun collector for over 50 years, a historian, a local Boy Scout Executive, an environmentalist and a teacher. He passed his knowledge about arrowheads, mangroves and antiques on to those he loved. He believed in treating people fairly and was a very generous and kind man.
Don is survived by his uncle, Frank Brockett; brother, James Ball; his children, Laurie Cottrell, Dan Ball, Chris Ball; his grandchildren, Raven, Summer, Catherine, Emily, River, and great-granddaughter Ava.

Many, many great memories with Donny, beginning at Silver Bluff and continuing through the years. Bill and I would meet him and his wife for dinner when he'd come to Ft. Myers for a gun show. He was a fantastic person and I will really miss him.

With his warm, welcoming smile, Donny was always a caring, thoughtful soul. At our reunions, we had such good conversations about what mattered in our lives. His passion for living his best life was inspiring. As Ram Daas said, "Be Here Now" was a mantra for how Donny lived his life. RIP Donny!

Don was a longtime friend and will be missed. I remember great times with him at Shenandoah and Miami High. He was one of the good ones.
